Meet Chardonnay

Elsye Walker is a thru-hiker who goes by the trail name Chardonnay. Currently, she is going after her Triple Crown, right now and we were so excited to get to talk with her.

If you’re not familiar with that term, the Triple Crown is recognition of a hiker who completes the Pacific Crest Trail, Appalachian Trail, and Continental Divide Trail so almost 8,000 miles worth of trail thru 22 states.

Right now Chardonnay is on the Continental Divide trail…she’s not doing the interview from the trail, we recorded it back in December. But be sure to follow her progress right now on her blog Wandering Chardonnay.

I hope you enjoy our conversation and it inspires you to hike more and drink more wine.

Enjoy the show!

Show Notes:

5:00 How road biking led to a life on the trail.

14:00 Carrying a box of wine on her bike.

17:45 Going off the trail with a fractured ankle and why it was a terrible idea (but what she learned).

Today’s show is sponsored by Audible. If I’m not listening to a podcast, I’m listening to an audiobook.

I devour audiobooks while I drive my car to and from interesting hiking destinations, clean my house, fix dinner, do the dishes, fold laundry and workout. There are so many good books that I want to read and I feel a lot more productive when I can multi-task by listening as I work.

Right now we are offering a free 30-day trial to Audible + a free audiobook download just by clicking this link.

By clicking this link to join Audible you help support the podcast and our Hike Like A Woman team. It’s a win/win. So check out Audible and let us know what you’re reading.
