Several years ago I found the website, Rain or Shine Mamma.
Instantly it became one of my favorite websites (which says a lot because I typically loathe parenting blogs).
The website is fun, refreshing and full of great tips on outdoor play and parenting.
Well, Linda, the woman behind the blog recently published her first book, There’s No Such Thing As Bad Weather: A Scandinavian Mom’s Secrets for Raising Healthy, Resilient, and Confident Kids (from Friluftsliv to Hygge).
When I was sent an advanced copy I had mixed feelings about reading it.
Was the book going to just tell me what I already know, that kids need fresh air, sunshine, dirt, and unstructured outdoor free play?
Or would I learn something new?
So I thumbed through it in preparation for this interview.
Then I talked to Linda for this show and was convinced that I needed to dive in and read it from cover to cover.
So I did…in 24 hours…it’s that good.
I hope you enjoy my conversation with Linda about raising outdoor lovin’ kids today.

As a small business owner I know first hand how challenging it is to get your very first product created, launched and into the market. When my husband and I first started writing trail guides I remember going door-to-door with him trying to sell them to local business and it was terrifying.
Well, this is where our friends at Garage Grown Gear come in to help.
They are a brand who supports small businesses in the outdoor community and work hard to get their products in front of the world.
I shop local and support small business and they do to.
Visit Garage Grown Gear to shop cool products, read interesting articles, and support small business! They have generously offered Hike Like a Woman podcast listeners 12% off by using the promo code “hikelikeawoman” at checkout!
Have you ever wished that there was a conference where you could just get to spend a week hanging out with some of the biggest female leaders in the outdoor community?
Well, you can!
I’m excited to announce the Wild Woman Adventurer’s Summit.
A 5-day online conference for adventurous women from October 23-27th.
You’ll get to join me plus nine other outdoor women as we talk about everything from getting started in the outdoors, to facing fears, finding your tribe, crafting a lifestyle and changing your world.
The summit is entirely FREE and you get to attend online from the comfort of your own home, office or van if van life is your thing.
We’re excited to be able to give away one VIP access pass right here.
