Note: Epic Wipes provided a samle to us at no charge in order to review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
We hike. We backpack. We bike. We snowshoe, ski, and the list goes on and on. And we get dirty. Really dirty. But Epic Wipes have a solution to that problem. They are a “shower on the go.” Ambassadors Val and Kimberly reviewed. Read below to see what they think!
You stink! No, not you, and thanks to Epic Wipes, not me either! I love to hike, and I love to bike and basically, I love to just be outside as much as possible. Unfortunately, all of those things can make you dirty and sweaty. If you do them long enough, that dirt and sweat will start to smell and your friends and family may feel it necessary to comment. As a matter of fact, my husband’s usual greeting when I return from a long backpacking trip is, “Hi! Boy, do you smell!” – with love, of course. Well, who wants to hear that over and over again? Not to mention the long glances, rolling eyes and pinched noses when you come into a town from the trail? Definitely not me!
So, you can imagine how happy I was when I got the chance to review Epic Wipes. They call it a “shower on the go”, and that’s exactly what it feels like. The wipes are huge – “massive”, as they describe it. At 1.6 feet by 2.6 feet, they cover half of my body. They also smell nice – just clean and a little minty, not flowery or perfumy (Is that a word? It should be.) Beside the size and the smell, they just work. You really feel clean afterwards and they remove the salt, so no chafing! They use Eucalyptus oil, not alcohol, so they’re also gentle on your skin and at only $2.25 a pack ($25.00/ 10 pack), I’d call them a bargain. I used them on backpacking and bike packing trips and not one person (not even my husband) held their nose when I walked by!
Now for the downside – they are so big! Although the package is about the size of a deck of cards, they weigh over 4 oz and they don’t crush much after use. One wipe took up about ¾ of a sandwich baggie. In these days of LNT adventuring, they take up a lot of room.
Still, even with the weight and size, I’d probably put one in each box of supplies for my AT hike. They work very well, and I loved the ability to go from gross and filthy to “shower fresh” without having to leave the trail. I highly recommend that if you’re planning an adventure with a high chance of dirt and sweat, bring along a few Epic Wipes. You, and those around you, will be glad that you did!
Epic Wipes are nothing short of EPIC! I had the feeling they were going to live up to their epicness when I read on the back label a US Army Physician created them after being deployed to Afghanistan. My sister is a Naval Emergency Doctor and has told me horror stories of life on deployment about getting and staying clean.
I lived in Rwanda for eight years, and when I used Epic Wipes for the first time I thought, “Where were you for those eight years of limited water and traveling for days with no showers?” I will no longer make my African treks without taking along a few of these freshening rejuvenators!
What I love most about these wipes is the smell. You don’t smell like you’ve been “sanitized.” You smell clean. You don’t have that sticky sensation: just clean.
The multiple sizes come in handy as well. I hate to waste any product and if you need a quick clean up over a small body area – or small human area – you have the size that fits the need. There was a note on the back of the packaging stating you should be careful with using Epic Wipes on small children and do not use it on infants due to the Eucalyptus Oil. Which, by the way, is what makes you smell and feel clean as opposed to sanitized. Another benefit is Eucalyptus Oil is a natural antibiotic. Can we get a high five on that?
The real test came this summer when my Rwandan cycling team came to race the Colorado Classic. It’s August; it’s Colorado, boys sweating during a 4+ hour race the perfect testing ground for Epic Wipes. I had a couple of the XL wipes, and I cut them in half for my four riders. As they came across the finish line and back to the car for the 2-hour drive back to Denver, they all used the wipes to clean off. You cannot get things like this in Rwanda, and they LOVED them. Next time I go to Rwanda, I will be filling my suitcase with these wipes. My young men were clean and smelling like they hadn’t just raced 4+ hours in the blazing heat!

Hello! Hike Like a Woman Ambassador @jessbee15 taking over HLAW Instagram this weekend. Winter hiking is a big YES in my book. How about you? What are some of your favorite winter hiking spots? This is Wildcat Den State Park in my home state of Iowa. #hike #hikelikeawoman #hikeiowa #winterhikes #midwesthikes #iowa #midwest #optoutside
Most of the time when I review products I always have a critique or suggestion. I have nothing in regards to Epic Wipes. I love they were designed by a military physician, they don’t make you smell sanitizy, or your skin feel sticky. I love the multiple sizes, the antibacterial properties, the packaging (it’s recyclable) and most of all according to the package they come from Cheyenne, Wyoming!
Make sure you stock up on Epic Wipes for your next adventure even if that adventure is a date after a long day of work and an hour at the gym!
