Hometown: Knoxville, TN

Occupation: Magazine Editor for Hike Like A Woman, Nanny and Residential Counselor.

Favorite place to hike: Smoky Mountains

What’s one book you’d recommend to a friend and why: Bear in the Backseat by Kim DeLozier. Very entertaining, educational & adventurous book written by a former park ranger about his many encounters.

What’s your favorite thing to cook for dinner: I am on the SCD Diet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) but my favorite thing to cook is probably roasted butternut squash (well it’s my favorite thing to eat 🙂 ). I love cooking and trying new recipes.

What’s your favorite quote: “You have been assigned this mountain to show others that it can be moved.”

If you could hike with anyone, dead or alive who would be and why: My grandfather. He sparked my love of the mountains when I was just a child with our “Sunday drives” and picnics.

What the one piece of gear that always has a place in your backpack: Smoky (my little black bear that is attached to my backpack). He’s been my hiking partner since I began hiking.

If you could drop what you’re doing right now and had unlimited funds what’s the one place you’d go hiking: Banff National Park
