Occupation: Photojournalist

Favorite place to hike: The Little Missouri River area in southwest Arkansas will always hold a special place in my heart. My family camped there often when I was growing up. I love the rugged terrain and remoteness of the place.

What’s one book you’d recommend to a friend and why: Bill Bryson’s “A Walk in the Woods” because it is hilarious and it shows you do not to be perfectly outdoorsy to enjoy the outdoors.

What’s your favorite thing to cook for dinner:  I love Rachael Ray’s brown butter sauce for pasta. I add mushrooms, onions, chicken, or whatever else I’m in the mood for that evening. It’s easy, quick, and oh so good.

What’s your favorite quote:  “The woods are lovely, dark, and deep” from Robert Frost’s “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.”

If you could hike with anyone, dead or alive who would be and why: I would love to hike with my grandmother who died when I was 19. She had a great love for life outside and taught me to be independent.

What the one piece of gear that always has a place in your backpack:  I always carry water purification tablets for a backup when I have my water filter. If I am just going for a day hike, I carry them just incase something happens and I need to get water from a stream.

If you could drop what you’re doing right now and had unlimited funds what’s the one place you’d go hiking:  I would go to Colorado. I have always wanted to hike a 14er, and someday I will.

Where can we find you on the internet:

Is there anything else you’d like to add:  I have been in love with the wilderness since before I can remember. Hiking, camping, backpacking are what get me excited.
