Name: Anna “Annie” Copeland

Hometown: Gilbertsville, KY

Occupation: Logistics Manager

Favorite place to hike: Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois

What’s one book you’d recommend to a friend and why: A Walk in the Woods by Richard Bryson
I love how it was written, with passion for the outdoors and nature but also with a sense of humor which is how I am. I can relate to it even if I could never attempt such a thing myself.

What’s your favorite thing to cook for dinner: That’s a tough one, I love to cook! One of my most favorite things is venison, in any form or shape. Grilled steaks, tacos, and even venison chilli! Oh & I rarely use recipes, I’m an old school home cook.

What’s your favorite quote:

“It is not length of life, but depth of life.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you could hike with anyone, dead or alive who would it be and why: Les Stroud “Survivorman”
I’ve learned so much from him, from how to orientate yourself without a compass to the fact that even the very best still make mistakes. I would love to hit the trail with him and learn more firsthand.

What is the one piece of gear that always has a place in your backpack:  A compass

If you could drop what you’re doing right now and had unlimited funds what’s the one place you’d go hiking: Yosemite

Anything else you’d like to add: Being outdoors, in nature is a way of life for me. I’ve been hitting the trail, pitching tents & casting lines since I could pretty much walk. I couldn’t imagine a life without it! I’ve even added canoeing to the list in the past couple years. You just never know how I will be out enjoying nature.
