What Hike Like A Woman means to you & why you wanted to be part of this team:
The best way for me to describe Hike Like a Woman is Empowerment. For so many years I was told I couldn’t do something or wasn’t good enough to do it because I was a woman. Being raised in the south this is something I’ve dealt with on a day to day basis. However, after becoming a mom to a beautiful little girl I told myself, “enough is enough”. I wanted to show my daughter that as a woman you can do anything you set your mind to. My husband and I have also discussed how we wanted to raise our daughter with the love for the outdoors. We wanted her to grow up knowing there’s more to this world than just seeing it on television, to go out and explore it! So, when my daughter was 6 months old we ordered a baby carrier and began hiking. In the beginning, all the “nay sayers” would comment that hiking is a man’s hobby, or there’s no way I would continue to hike after a few weeks. But I persisted and started to find other amazing women that had a love for the outdoors like myself. That’s when I found Hike Like A Woman Podcast! As soon as I heard the first episode I was hooked and knew I wanted to be a part of this amazing group of women. It was then and there that I started researching and found the Ambassador program. As soon as I read about it I knew I wanted to be an Ambassador, to share my story, and help spread the knowledge of women in the hiking community to others. I am very excited for what this coming year will hold, and can’t wait to share more of my adventures with all of you!
